2016 Meanmouth Cabernet Sauvignon

$110.00

Appellation: Diamond Mountain-Napa Valley

Growing Season notes:

The 2016 growing season was near perfect: relatively constant, slightly cooler temperatures and the end of the five consecutive years of drought.  The unusually cool August allowed for the fruit to ripen perfectly until our harvest on September 14.

Winemaking notes:

After the pick, the fruit was hand sorted then fermented in a stainless tank.  Post-primary fermentation, it was barreled down to 55% new and 45% two-year-old French oak barrels to complete malolactic fermentation.  It was aged 27 months in barrel, bottled in January of 2019 and laid down for a year to mature. 214 cases produced.

Tasting notes:

Our 2016 Diamond Mountain is a savory Cabernet full of soft black fruit, particularly black cherry, a touch of anise and forest floor notes…a hallmark of the redwoods around the vineyard site and the rhyolitic ash in the soils.  The oak integration supports the fruit beautifully.  While this wine will age beautifully for many years, it is able to be enjoyed now upon decanting.
